After watching Chris repair a vintage Nutone motor the same as my vintage chime from early 1950s, I knew I would entrust my repair to him. I have received it in repaired state from him and am totally satisfied that it will continue to function and there will be many more years of memory for me and the next generataion.

Your videos and guides helped me feel comfortable with troubleshooting, deinstallation and reinstallation after you fixed my intercom master!

Our House received a lightning strike which damaged a number of electronics, our Nutone IMA4406 included. We searched for an individual who could repair our unit and saw the many Nutone YouTube technical videos that Chris Peters made available on the internet. After contacting him and discussing the issue, he ran us through a series of diagnostics on the phone to ascertain whether this was something that we could do that would not require his services. This was a lengthy conversation which required quite a bit of his time. He determined that the damage was extensive and would require the services of a skilled Nutone service individual. At this point we had already decided that he was the one to perform this service. He forwarded all the necessary information for us to remove and package the master station. After he received our station we were contacted regarding the damage and proceeded with the repairs, which took about one week. I additionally requested that he install an accessory plug input to enable the unit to receive Bluetooth. Our unit was received with installation instructions and recommendations to optimize its performance and dependability. and we reinstalled it . WE CANNOT BE MORE PLEASE WITH THE RESULTS!! The unit is performing better than it ever has and the Bluetooth accessory plug has added an entirely new capability to our master station. We also received a bag which had all the damaged components that he replaced. I wish we could post a picture of them. There were at least 60 components. We wish to thank Chris and his wife for the excellent service we received for them. For anyone seeking repairs to their Nutone units, this is the place to go. I think you will find their service, integrity and knowledge second to none.

I just received my K42 Nutone front door chime. It works like new and sounds wonderful! Chris couldn't have been more helpful with ideas on removing the base, disconnecting the wiring and reinstalling the chime. It was all very easy. Thanks for your wonderful service!

I have a (FASCO) Rittenhouse (C8538R) 8 note Door chime (3 short tubes). I have had this chime for 32 years and in the last several years it would not operate the 8 note chime sequence. I found Northside on the internet and seen a video that Chris did that looked very similar to my chime. I called Northside and talked with Chris. I told him what I had and that I thought a power surge or lightning may be the culprit and he told me has has repaired many of these older units and what the cost would be. I shipped him the unit and got it back within a few days with the old parts that he replaced. Very happy to have this unit back up and functioning. The unit was packed to withstand about any abuse the carriers could through at it,(Thanks Cindy).

I will enjoy this unit once again now that it is working and if I happen to move this chime is going with me.

The NuTone IM3003 Radio Intercom Master Station you repaired for me is now "Like Brand New". While you were repairing my NuTone unit I followed your Video instruction to maintain and clean the room intercom speakers.
All controls operated like new, very smooth, no static. After re-installing the unit everything worked perfectly. Thank you for the enclosed instructions for radio and intercom control levels for reset.
Also, thank you for your care in re-packaging the unit for shipment, WOW, I think it would have survived being dropped from a ten-story building :) It arrived back to me in great condition.
I highly recommend Northside Service Company and found your videos excellent and informative. "Very easy to follow."

Just received my repaired IM4406 from Chris. So great to have it working again. It came with the house and was over 20 years old. We came to depend on it since our house is kind of rambling. It’s a long way from the family room at one end to the office in basement at other end. Especially important when I’m called for dinner. Chris turned it around in just a couple of days. He is also quick to reply to emails and phone calls.

Just received and installed my repaired IM3003 and couldn't be happier. I've lived in my house 18 years and my system and door bell never worked properly, I figured it was obsolete. Then a young techy friend stopped by and investigated it for me and said to send it to you guys, it works perfectly! Thank you very much!!

Just letting you know that I installed my repaired M&S master unit and it is working better than ever!

No more nearby flashlight so I could see the display!

The doorbell is loud and clear, everywhere!

While you were repairing things, I cleaned the ends of the wires til they shone like a penny, and fixed a questionable splice at the door station. Guess what, the hum is GONE! I can actually hear birds when I listen to the door station. What a bonus!

I’m so glad I found you. I was looking at repairing, replacing, or removing the intercom system before I started painting the inside of my house. Repairing was definitely the most cost effective. Growing up, I thought houses with intercoms were really cool. It bugged the hell out of me that mine didn’t work.

Your return packaging was a work of art, and put my attempt to shame. I appreciated the roll of Life Savers, too!

And what I thought was a bag of rotten baby teeth were the capacitors you replaced. 16 I think. Why do capacitors hate me? Lol

I’ve told my neighbors who have similar systems not to fret if they start malfunctioning…because “I know a guy.”

I loved the Rittenhouse chime that came with the house. It was at least 25 years old and still sounded great. When I went to re-install it after a painting project, it started to smoke. I thought it was too old to find parts, and thought there was no way it could be repaired. I googled it and found a video of Chris repairing a similar unit. I emailed him, he responded promptly and directed me to submit a repair order. Following that we had a phone conversation where he was confident that this unit could easily be repaired. I shipped it to him, it was repaired and shipped back without incident, and this unit has been working just like new ever since!!! I am very grateful that there are still people/ companies out there, like Chris, that specialize in a unique trade specialty such as this to keep these fantastic older pieces of equipment functioning perfectly.

I have the M & S DMC3-4 which I installed in 2013. Over time the system volume was dropping, no matter what you did with adjustments. I couldn't find anyone to service it. Thought I would have to scrap the whole system, which I did not want to do. I stumbled across Chris and Northside Services Co. on YouTube.
You should definitely checkout his channel. His videos are informative, well-done and detailed. I filled out his service form online and within a day he called to talk to me directly. He had me do a few little tests on the unit and felt he knew and could quickly fix the problem. He tells you upfront the likely cost involved
and repair time required. I sent the unit. It was fixed, retuned to me in great condition and the whole process was about 2 weeks. The unit is working great and am I glad I found Northside Services. I don't think there is anyone else in the country offering such comprehensive service on these sound systems.

So that would be my second comment on this site. I am usually not a big fan of leaving comments, but the kindness and and the integrity of the Peters family oblige me to say a couple of words here and show my deep gratitude for their help. After having been repaired successfully my Nutone stated a new deffecct namely the unit sound button started to glitch and did not work properly. Chris kindly offered to perform the repair for free (!) did not even charge me for the parts let alone his labor, performed the repair, and sent back the unit to me. I am endlessly grateful for his help and I appreciate his willingness to go the extra mile : a person/family with a rare sense of integrity and responsibility. Thank you so much for your assistance!

My 25 year old NuTone LD49 finally gave out after 25 years of faithful and continuous service. At first I thought that it was the relatively new (3 year old) RING doorbell unit but that checked out OK.
Then I figured it was the transformer and so I replaced it, but that was not the problem either. I did not want to replace the unit because we love it and there are no worthwhile replacements for it.
Then I searched the web and found several instructive videos by Chris which led me to believe that something electrical was amiss in the base unit and that it needed to be overhauled.
I talked to Chris and Cindy and they patiently explained to me what can go wrong with such an old unit and that they can return it to its original working state for a very reasonable charge.
I sent the base unit to them and I have just received the overhauled unit (and may I say that Chris included all of the defunct parts that he replaced) and it is working as when it was new.
It only took a few days and I couldn't be happier with the results. Our dear old friend is now working like new again and filling our home with melodic sounds when someone is at our door.
I very highly recommend using Northside Service Company for any of your intercom or other NuTone systems needs.

Well, Chris & Company has done it again! We had lightening strike close enough to our home to knock out the breaker on our hot water heater. The surge, or whatever it was, damaged our Nutone IM3003. This is now about the third time our unit has been damaged in the 30 years we have lived here, each time Chris has gotten us up and going! It may likely happen again, but we are confident that Chris will be able to keep us on the air! Not only were the repairs done efficiently, but were very timely--my wife was concerned we would not have Christmas music playing throughout the house, but thanks to Chris our home is filled with the joy of Christmas music!

That's probably the best NuTone Service Center in the country.
I found them on YouTube and they immediately caught my attention with how much efforts they put into helping people.
Chris is a very meticulous person with a lot of compassion and integrity. If you listen to him for a couple of minutes you will understand that he knows what he is doing and he will go the extra mile to get the job done.
Not only He repaired my IM4406 Station but he made sure the defect doesn't occur a second time.

Our Nutone IM-4006 Intercom was clearly on its last legs and searches for a Nutone dealer / repair location in Canada were coming up nil when I luckily found Northside Service Company on Youtube. I contacted them to find out if they would consider a repair from out-of-country. I received a telephone call very soon from Chris with assurances that a repair was possible and got an idea of the costs including shipping which seemed very reasonable considering what was involved. I followed their excellent video on how to uninstall the main control unit and sent the unit to them. In short order, I was pleasantly surprised to receive another telephone call telling me that the unit was repaired and ready to be sent back. Chris and Cindy were amazing to deal with. In a couple of days, I got a call from the shipping company telling me that my intercom unit had arrived. Lots of fun unwrapping the unit. What I beheld looked like a totally shiny new intercom. I reinstalled the unit replaying parts of the "uninstall" video from end to start. Overall, this was a terrific experience. I highly recommend Northside Service Company to any Canadian homeowners who have an old Nutone system that has failed and needs repair.

Northside Service Company - 5 Stars!

After many years, our vintage NuTone IM3303 would frequently become inoperable, flashing odd codes. Resets worked for awhile. When they didn't, Chris was more than helpful suggesting ways to get a little more time out of it (noting that it would probably fail at some point). During those discussions he shared that he would likely be able to save it if he could source, rebuild and install a set a complete set of circuits in our unit. The last "save" involved cutting the power supply for a week and it surprisingly provided another 6+ plus months of service before it ultimately surrended. I contacted Chris to see if he might be able to rebuild it.

After Chris confirmed he had the required parts, I carefully followed his removal and packaging instructions . May I suggest to not try to save money on proper packaging or carrier - also, buy the insurance.

Along with the rebuild, I requested to have an external audio jack installed for Bluetooth capability. He also rebuilt the chime module and replaced the backup battery. Chris turned the unit around very quickly and it showed up faster than I thought possible. The packaging was first rate (no surprise). It was a bit of challenge to unwrap, but in perfect condition. I reinstalled it following his printed detailed instructions.

All functions work great. Bluetooth is a fun addition too. Love it

First class to deal with and outstanding work.

My 30+ year old IM3003 developed a "buzz" that could be heard at all the remote stations. Because of this I would turn the volume to near off at all the remote stations. Unfortunately, when I did this you couldn't hear the doorbell. I lived with this for several years until preparing my home for sale and our real estate agent asked about the intercom. "Does it work?" Not exactly I replied. So I then began my search for a solution and found for a reasonable charge, my system could be rebuilt to be as good as new by Northside Service Company. I sent Chris an email and within a day he called and arranged a repair. I followed all of his detailed YouTube videos, disinstalled the unit, and properly packaged it for shipping. In less than three weeks the IM3003 was returned as good a new. I'm in California, so shipping to Tennessee takes about a week each way. Reinstallation was easy and everything is working fine today. Should be a little easier to sell the house without having to explain a broken intercom. I'm sure the investment in the repair will be returned several times over in our home's resale value.

My 20-year-old NuTone LA-52 Musical Door Chime stopped working, so I searched for a replacement on the internet. I found their website during the search and called them. I told them what my problem was and they sent me to Chris. He walked me through some initial troubleshooting to see if it was something simple that I could repair, but unfortunately it was not. I sent the chime in for repair. He repaired the board and replaced the old capacitors with new ones and returned the repaired chime back to me in less than two weeks. I had some follow-up questions after I received the repaired chime, so I called Chris back and he gladly answered my questions. Thank you for your excellent customer service which is so hard to find these days.

I’d been looking for a deal on an 8 note door chime for my home for years, thought I’d found a great deal on a mid-50s K46 on eBay. It looked really nice, but upon arrival it was obvious that it wasn’t “working when removed” and “only being sold because we’re remodeling” as the seller had claimed. It was a total mess, missing parts, parts swapped with incorrect parts, clockworks completely frozen up. I was worried that it wouldn’t be repairable or if so it would take more than it’s worth to do it. I started looking online, saw the videos on YouTube, starting asking the owner here some questions, and ended up sending the chime base and clock assembly in for service and boy am I glad I did. It took a couple of weeks which surprised me because I thought it would probably take forever to get it working, if even that. He had all the parts that were missing from the chime base, was able to service the clock as well, and it’s on the wall in my entryway right now working as it should. Having it repaired by an expert was worth every penny I paid, there was no way I could have sourced the correct parts and figured out how to fix all the damage. Just want to say thanks to the folks at Northside for their patience with all my questions and with what was quite a challenging repair, I’m sure
