Here is the display board with its LCD screen.  

The blue arrows point to 2 LED's that provide the back light for the LCD screen.  On some NM series Masters these LED's seem to fail and the LCD screen looses its backlight.  I would guess that the 2 LED's are controlled by a driver IC, which is where the fault occurs when the LED's do not work correctly.

The IC inside the red box is the LCD Driver chip.
