A friend has a model 2071 S/N 71-09279 radio/intercom
For a number of years now the sound has been garbled. Quite uncomfortable to listen to.
What can cause this ?
Thank you.

Hi Jerry,
There can be many causes for distorted sound in the system. The most likely cause is age.
Your friends 2071 is probably around 45-50 years old and it is simply tired. Some types of electronic components will fail due to time and age, this causes other components to not work correctly and the problem cascades through the set.
The longer it remains in this condition (if it's left turned on) the worse the problems will become.
If your friend is interested in having his 2071 rebuilt, please contact me directly
Thanks

Hi,
I have 2 houses with the Nutone 2055/2056 Intercom. Both systems produce a humming noise when turned on. When tuned to a station the music can be heard, but is faint.
One system has been like this for a couple years and the other just began having this problem today. What are my options?
Thanks,
Rodney
Hi Rodney,
It sounds like your 2055 / 2056's are in need of a rebuild, which is not unexpected since they are over 50 years old.
Care must be taken when rebuilding Master Station of this age and era. Theses set can become somewhat fragile with time and from the heat that the tubes generate.
If you are interested in having the Master Stations rebuilt, please fill out an Intercom Repair Request Form and one I receive it, I'll contact you by phone to discuss the problems with your 2055 / 2056's and their repairs
Thanks
Chris
