NuTone's catalog did a very good job at describing the features of the IM5006, which was a somewhat complicated system to use.

The IM5006 was the first model to use a LCD Dot-Matrix Display, which could display English language words, numbers and symbols.  This advanced display choice was actually the reason that the IM5006 would be discontinued years later.  The component company that made the display, discontinued it on short notice and the cost to redesign the IM5006.

Shortly before the IM5006 was discontinued, NuTone introduced the IM5000.
