The VIS100M was not the first Video Entry System that NuTone made, the VS1000 was the first.

The VIS1000M was the first system that was designed to be added to a separate NuTone Music Intercom System.  The VIS1000M was just a video system, there was no intercom feature built-in.

The VIS1000M was really styled to match the new IM5006, even though it could be used with any model, the monitor housings were tall, like the IM5006 and they didn't;t look very good next to a IM3003.
