There have been many FM Tuner Assemblies used in the 2561 - 2562. This is the last and final version for this model.
While the earliest NuTone Radio Intercom Master Stations were AM only designs, FM Radio was quickly catching on and becoming popular. Any model that included both AM and FM were "DeLuxe" models that cost more.
By the early 1970's there was just one model left that only had a AM radio. The design of FM Tuners had not only improved to the point that provided very good reception, and the tuner designs featured better components and simpler, more reliable designs.
The downside to this is that the size of the tuner boards is much smaller and this makes then very difficult to work on.
You might notice the 6 rounded metal tabs around the tuners aluminum can. These are not used in the 2561, however they are bent over when this tuner is used on Model 2090 and 2540.
