Northside Guest Book

I wanted to thank you for the great work you did on my intercom. It arrived a day or so before thanksgiving, but we had company, so I waited until after the holiday to install it. I am happy to say everything worked, including the chime!.

I have two rooms upstairs that put a bunch of static on the line if they are in the intercom position, but it stops when they are off. This is an existing problem. The installer was a young guy, and I am not sure what happened, but I recall there was something about the cable he ran. It is not shielded, but simply 2 pair phone cable. Not sure why the other rooms work but perhaps those cables to the bad rooms pass by some kind of RF noise. Sounds a lot like a bad mic cable, but I have checked the termination on the wall boxes, and all seems ok.

When I was in college I majored in Film and Television and had a job working as a TV engineer at our television center at Montana State University. I was kind of into electronics in high school and was able to learn quite a bit about repairing television equipment. Of course, in those days the transistors were the size of a bean and were easy to trace and troubleshoot. That was back in 1970. I ended up managing the PBS station at Texas A&M for about 40 years, and my closest colleagues were the engineers. I saw them progress from trouble shooting to the component level to finally board swapping.

My guess is you are one of only a few people with the passion and the skill to do what you do. I am so happy I stumbled upon your repair video.

We have used Northside Service Company for many years. Our Nutone doorbell is over 20 years old. We had issues with it approximately 5 years ago and sent it to Northside to repair. Of course, they did an amazing job and returned it promptly. We moved to TN and during the move the doorbell stopped working. We packed it up again and sent it off to Chris and Cindy Peters. They fixed it and now it is up and running like new. This doorbell has become part of our family and its nice to know we are in good hands with Northside. We recommend them highly. Nice to have a small company that cares about our prized
possession. Hard to find this service in this crazy world. Kudos to Northside Service Company.

My nutone stop working and I found Mr. Peters on YouTube. I watch his videos and contacted him and he tried to help me on the phone. It wouldn’t work and he sent me an email telling me how to package it for shipping. I sent it to him thinking it would be two or three weeks before I got it back but within six days, I had it back and it’s working great thanks for everything.

I found Northside Service Company on line! Chris was so easy to talk to and so helpful! Our Nutone looks and works like brand new! Couldn’t say enough good things! We were so upset when our system started humming loudly throughout the house! Chris rebuilt it and sent it back to us in under 2 weeks ! We are so thankful and wouldn’t hesitate to call him again! A power outage knocked our vintage intercom radio system offline, so I looked up how to troubleshoot it and still couldn't get any sound...but I wrote Christopher to see if he had any suggestions and he pointed me to the reset button (which I didn't know was there), and it worked. He could have made me send it in for repair but chose not to. I can't thank him enough! Retirees don't have alot of discretionary income, and I appreciate his willingness to try a reset first. Kudos!

I found Northside Service Company through an internet search. Chris has numerous helpful video's on YouTube and possesses a vast amount of knowledge on Nutone Chimes and Intercom systems.
We inherited my wife's childhood home which always had a Nutone door chime. When it started to fail, she was heart broken. I made a call to Chris for advice.
I found him to be very pleasant to speak with and decided to send my chime in for repair.
In a little more than a week, we had it back on the wall. It works like new thanks to Chris.
This made my wife very happy, as it reminds her of mom when hearing the Westminster chime.
If you have a Nutone device not working as it should, I would highly recommend leaving it in the hands of Northside Service Company.

Like so many others have noted, I could not be more pleased with the repair to my IM3003 Master Station and Door Unit. The videos gave me confidence with the de-installation of the unit(s) and the packing. Chris responded within days of receiving our product, and despite unseen water damage, he was able to repair it for only a modest increase in electrical components. My wife and I were unsure whether it was really worth it to have the unit refurbished, but after only a couple of days using our "like new" system, we are totally sold! Northside is a gem of a business in today's world, and I will recommend to all of my neighbors with older systems. Thank you Chris and Cindy.

Once again, you both continue to exceed my expectations in your dedication to a quality service with exceptional customer interaction. You exemplify the power of what a well-run small business can achieve.

Our latest project was the proactive “tune-up” to our working, albeit 25+ year old NuTone IM-4406. The IM-4406’s post service sound quality is outstanding. Chris, your rigorous refurbishing process has breathed a beautiful new life and voice into our master station and 11 satellite intercoms. My wife, who seldom comments on electronic devices, said this morning after an intercom conversation; “the voices sound so much better-clearer”.

My wife and I have a M&S intercom/AM-FM stereo N80 system which was not working at all. I spent a little time on the Internet looking for a replacement system and ran across Northside website. Watched a few of Chris's videos and filled out a repair questionnaire.
Chris called back and we discussed the problems with the unit. I sent the unit to him upon his description of his knowledge of the issues with the unit and got it back in less than 2 weeks, installed the master unit the day it arrived and it is WORKING as it did when it was originally installed!

A few weeks ago, I contact Chris regarding repair of an older Nutone K-32 Continental long chime doorbell. His advice was great, and I followed through with the repair. Although a bit pricey, his work was spot on and the system now functions exceptionally well. It is such a great feeling to find someone who really handles your repairs in a timely and friendly manner. His expertise is seen in his videos and I would recommend him without reservation for your antique Nutone doorbell repairs. Thanks Chris. After watching Chris repair a vintage Nutone motor the same as my vintage chime from early 1950s, I knew I would entrust my repair to him. I have received it in repaired state from him and am totally satisfied that it will continue to function and there will be many more years of memory for me and the next generataion.

Thank you Northside Service Company! Quick repair of my M&S 602 saved me hundreds if not a couple thousand dollars.... I was getting desperate and ready to pull everything out before i found you. Your videos and guides helped me feel comfortable with troubleshooting, deinstallation and reinstallation after you fixed my intercom master!

Our House received a lightning strike which damaged a number of electronics, our Nutone IMA4406 included. We searched for an individual who could repair our unit and saw the many Nutone YouTube technical videos that Chris Peters made available on the internet. After contacting him and discussing the issue, he ran us through a series of diagnostics on the phone to ascertain whether this was something that we could do that would not require his services. This was a lengthy conversation which required quite a bit of his time. He determined that the damage was extensive and would require the services of a skilled Nutone service individual. At this point we had already decided that he was the one to perform this service. He forwarded all the necessary information for us to remove and package the master station. After he received our station we were contacted regarding the damage and proceeded with the repairs, which took about one week. I additionally requested that he install an accessory plug input to enable the unit to receive Bluetooth. Our unit was received with installation instructions and recommendations to optimize its performance and dependability. and we reinstalled it . WE CANNOT BE MORE PLEASE WITH THE RESULTS!! The unit is performing better than it ever has and the Bluetooth accessory plug has added an entirely new capability to our master station. We also received a bag which had all the damaged components that he replaced. I wish we could post a picture of them. There were at least 60 components. We wish to thank Chris and his wife for the excellent service we received for them. For anyone seeking repairs to their Nutone units, this is the place to go. I think you will find their service, integrity and knowledge second to none.

I just received my K42 Nutone front door chime. It works like new and sounds wonderful! Chris couldn't have been more helpful with ideas on removing the base, disconnecting the wiring and reinstalling the chime. It was all very easy. Thanks for your wonderful service!

I have a (FASCO) Rittenhouse (C8538R) 8 note Door chime (3 short tubes). I have had this chime for 32 years and in the last several years it would not operate the 8 note chime sequence. I found Northside on the internet and seen a video that Chris did that looked very similar to my chime. I called Northside and talked with Chris. I told him what I had and that I thought a power surge or lightning may be the culprit and he told me has has repaired many of these older units and what the cost would be. I shipped him the unit and got it back within a few days with the old parts that he replaced. Very happy to have this unit back up and functioning. The unit was packed to withstand about any abuse the carriers could through at it,(Thanks Cindy).

I will enjoy this unit once again now that it is working and if I happen to move this chime is going with me.

The NuTone IM3003 Radio Intercom Master Station you repaired for me is now "Like Brand New". While you were repairing my NuTone unit I followed your Video instruction to maintain and clean the room intercom speakers.
All controls operated like new, very smooth, no static. After re-installing the unit everything worked perfectly. Thank you for the enclosed instructions for radio and intercom control levels for reset.
Also, thank you for your care in re-packaging the unit for shipment, WOW, I think it would have survived being dropped from a ten-story building :) It arrived back to me in great condition.
I highly recommend Northside Service Company and found your videos excellent and informative. "Very easy to follow."

Just received my repaired IM4406 from Chris. So great to have it working again. It came with the house and was over 20 years old. We came to depend on it since our house is kind of rambling. It’s a long way from the family room at one end to the office in basement at other end. Especially important when I’m called for dinner. Chris turned it around in just a couple of days. He is also quick to reply to emails and phone calls.

Just letting you know that I installed my repaired M&S master unit and it is working better than ever!

No more nearby flashlight so I could see the display!

The doorbell is loud and clear, everywhere!

While you were repairing things, I cleaned the ends of the wires til they shone like a penny, and fixed a questionable splice at the door station. Guess what, the hum is GONE! I can actually hear birds when I listen to the door station. What a bonus!

I’m so glad I found you. I was looking at repairing, replacing, or removing the intercom system before I started painting the inside of my house. Repairing was definitely the most cost effective. Growing up, I thought houses with intercoms were really cool. It bugged the hell out of me that mine didn’t work.

Your return packaging was a work of art, and put my attempt to shame. I appreciated the roll of Life Savers, too!

And what I thought was a bag of rotten baby teeth were the capacitors you replaced. 16 I think. Why do capacitors hate me? Lol

I’ve told my neighbors who have similar systems not to fret if they start malfunctioning…because “I know a guy.”
