Our Nutone Intercom stopped working and we called in an authorized repair person who indicated the repair would cost $600. I came across this site and decided to complete the request form. I received a follow-up call within a short period of time to discuss my issue. Chris was very knowlegeable and assured me the unit could be repaired. We just re-installed the intercom and it is working great. Chris and Cindy were very informative , provided great customer service and repaired our system promptly and for less the what we had been quoted by the authorized dealer. I would highly recommend Northside for any repairs to the products they service.

Our NuTone went crazy after 19 years. We contacted the closest dealer (100 miles away in Baltimore.) They said it couldn't be repaired, must be replaced at $1900.00. We waited it out and meanwhile my husband found your repair site.
The repaired unit arrived yesterday, and I must confess I didn't have a lot of hope that all would work again. But IT DID! The electrician plugged in the connections, and the radio worked, the doorbell worked . . . I'm SO happy! Thank you,

Our Nutone IM4006 died suddenly after 24 years of dependable service. When I contacted Nutone, they simply said to replace the unit, it was beyond repair. The new unit was going to cost almost $1,500.00 because we would also have to replace all 10 speakers and doorbell units. However, we shipped our current master control unit to you and it was fully repaired in just a few days for less than $400.00. We are very pleased with the quality of your service and your professionalism. Thank you for a great job that saved us a lot of cash.

Thank you, Chris and Cindy. My repaired IMA4406 and speakers arrived today , the reinstallation was easy (I labeled each wire when it was removed) and it works great. I was starting to give up on getting the system repaired until I found you and this process could not have been easier.

Nice job on the 3003 refurbish! I sent in my unit and in about a week Chris replaced all the capacitors and IC chips (which he returned with the unit). Before you could not hear the door bell or the radio. Now both come in loud and clear.

If you are thinking about getting your NuTone intercom fixed, I suggest you get a quote from Chris. He is extremely knowledgeable of the intercoms and can answer your questions.

Just a note to let you know how pleased I am with the rehab of my Nutone 3003!! I have been evaluating it now for several weeks and even went through a severe electrical storm! All is well and performed as advertised!! I am especially pleased with the addition of the IPod adapter as that has really made a difference. The instructions for adjusting the system is priceless as well...I'm sure I'm guilty of mal-adjustment for many years. Thanks for setting me straight! Keep up the good work.

Tremendous service, responsiveness and expertise! Northside offers a viable alternative to replacing or scrapping older intercom systems through their service and repair service. Got my 1995 Nutone IM3303 back to fully functional condition as well as refreshed external white plastic with quick turn time, clear and reasonable pricing, and careful packaging on return. Kudos to a knowledgable, honest, and helpful business.

I was a little leery of shipping it from Wisconsin all the way out to California.but you guys answered all of my questions and were very helpful and knowledgeable. I installed my intercom system as you directed and it works great now. Also thank you for adding the axillary port I enjoy playing my music from my phone through out the house on the intercom system. Outstanding service, excellent customer relation and superior attention to detail sums my experience with Northside. After completing Northside’s online form, explaining my 20 year old NuTone IM-5006’s poorly functioning master station, horrendous static and popping noise when calling station to station, or “all call,” and a virtually useless AM/FM reception, Chris promptly contacted me and spent 30+ minutes discussing probable issues, outlining numerous component replacements likely required, as well as his past and current experience in troubleshooting and repairing the IM-5006 master station. Besides the poorly functioning master station the units appearance clearly showed its age, badly yellowing to the point of ugly. Chris discussed his current whiting process and I hardily said “yes I’m interested in rejuvenating the looks of the unit.” The results are beyond my expectation. Having had the unit repaired several years ago by a NuTone repair center closer to home, I can attest the unit now functions the best it ever has, even better than new, and the whitening process rendered the unit a remarkable, like new, appearance. Thank you Northside! Thank you Chris!! Your workmanship is outstanding.

I had a choice to use a local authorized repair facility or to risk sending my NuTone IM-5006 master station out of town to Northside Service Company. I made an appointment with the local folks since it was still 5 AM on the west coast at the time I was looking for service. When it was a decent hour to call the west coast, I called Northside. I was very fortunate that Chris answered the phone. As a retired electrical engineer, he impressed me with the depth of his knowledge and apparent experience on my malfunctioning device. When we hung up after about 30 minutes, my first thing was to cancel the local repair appointment. Number two was to ship my unit to Chris at Northside. I could not have been happier with the results. Chris turned it around in about 6 working days as promised. It worked as advertised and the cost was reasonable. He also worked on improving the appearance of the 20 year old case which had yellowed. Not typing paper white but a tremendous improvement. The bottom line is I recommend Chris Peters and Northside Service Company.

I can’t say enough about the fine and complete restoration of our NuTone intercom model IM-4006. Chris and Cindy were very professional in their dealings with me. I am retired AT&T tech and my hobby is restoring coin operated arcade games and Jukebox’s. When I talked to Chris about resorting our NuTone Model IM-4006. I asked him what the restoration included he had all the right answers to my questions.
The turnaround was very quick mu IM-4006 Chris received the unit on a Monday and it was back in our house and working by the fowling Saturday. That is Post Falls, ID to Danville, CA and back.
The only complaint I have is there was only one pack of M and M’s and my wife got those. Ha Ha

We have a Nutone IM 3303 installed in 2001 as an upgrade to an older system. Following a frequent local power surge, the system seemed to have "died" with none of its functions working. Called the local Authorized Nutone dealer in Tulsa, who has been in busines for years, to see if the system could be fixed. The local Nutone tech came to the house, saw the problem and tested the two transformers to see if power was working. They were both fine. He then promptly proceeded to un-install my Master Control unit to "send it to Chicago for analysis and repair" as he had no idea what else to do. A few days later, I got a call from the dealer stating that Nutone no longer offered to repair intercoms, and I would have to REPLACE my whole system if I wanted an intercom, doorbell and radio system...a $2,500 installation. After doing some reseach, I came upon and contacted Northside Service Co. who looked reliable. I promptly got a phone call from Chris a few days later and he suggested I send the unit to him for analysis and hopefully repair. A few days after it got to him in California I got another call from Chris who informed me he had wired my unit to his workbench system and found NOTHING wrong...it worked perfectly well. He asked if the tech or I had activated the Reset Button, and we discussed how that might well have cured the problem before un-installing and shipping from Oklahoma to California and back. Long story short, Chris sent the unit back to me and I had to have the local tech come out to re-install the Master Control Unit as I had no other choice in Tulsa. He was surprised to learn the unit even had a Reset Button and "no" he had not activated it here or in their shop. When he did get the system re-installed, it worked perfectly well to his great surprise. Chris spent a combined time of about :45 minutes on the phone and was very, very helpful to me. If I had not found Chris and Northside Service, I might have had to spend $2,500 or more to have an intercom system in my home. I am very grateful for his knowledge and assistance with my problem and can only say THANKS CHRIS. You do things the way they used to be done..with pride and care.

I had my Nutone intercom fail after 8 years of service- I thought I'd have to get a new master unit at substantial cost, but emailed and directly spoke with Chris about getting a repair done- he walked me though all the steps and made the shipping and repair process very easy. The cost was very reasonable as well, and the intercom works great! Chris is highly recommended by me for this type of work- it turned out to be a bad power supply.

I recently returned my IM3003 NuTone system to Northside Service Company. It had not worked for the past 5 years and I had almost given up any hope of getting it repaired after checking with local resources. Then I found the NSC website and after contacting them, I shiped my unit to them for repairs. The evaluation determined my system had been hit by lightning, but it was repairable. Chris and Cindy provided great phone support and detailed guidance about how to pack and ship my unit. The turn-around time was approximately a week. It works like a new system, and actually better with the addition of the MP3 plug installed by Chris! I could not be more satisfied, in fact, NSC restores my faith that there are still a few companies out there that provide excellent customer service. Thanks Chris and Cindy--as I told you this was to be my wife's Christmas present, she was thrilled to once again have the system working. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you!

Bought a monticello chime off e-bay because of a search for telechron clocks, and turned out the late 30's early 40's chime had the guts of a newer model (barcelona?) seemed to be all there but chris got me on the right track by tuning it up and getting me the two transformers needed to operate the clock and the chimes as the newer guts used 16 volts and the chimes were 24 volts. 8 gongs sounds good and the time he spent walking me thru my installation was appreciated. Great guy that cares about the customer,

My IM 4006 intercom pooped out after 22 years. I thought it may be the transformer so I called AROUND and no one had one available. I found your site and asked about the transformer. Chris asked me a couple questions and determined that a lightning strike next door burned it out and the problem would not be the transformer. Well, the same day, my modem on the computer burned out and neighbors on either side had electronics also burned out. A company in Ft Lauderdale said there were no parts available and I would have to get a new system and that mine could not be repaired as there were no parts available. I called Chris back and said he could fix it if I sent it to him. I called another repair shop in Ft Lauderdale and they said it would cost $2500. Chris walked me through taking it apart which was surprisingly easy and I am not mechanically savvy. I had UPS package and ship it and I got it back a week later with all the burnt out and replaced parts (about 30 pieces). Everything works great now as he walked me through reassembling it and everything works great. Saved me over $2000.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for contacting us about your IM3003. The very first NuTone Intercom Systems were made in the mid 1950's and your IM3003 originally came out in 1984.

It is possible to install a "audio input jack" on the edge of the face plate. I have a posted an article that explains what to buy and how to hook it up.

Chris, i cannot believe I found your site! I have a different situation with my NUTONE 3003 system. I bought my house brand new in may 1985 and the intercom/radio was one of the options i purchased from the builder, so i am sure it was one of their first models that nutone made. Here it is 2013 and everything works great still. My issue is that gee i kind of would like to be able to play CD's or an IPOD track. Short of buying a whole new intercom/music system whichg costs $1,400, is there a way for you to modify my master unit?
