The NuTone Modle 2067 - 2068 featured a "Local - Distant" switch for FM reception. This feature works differently than most people would think, when the switch is in the "Distant" position, it does not amplify or strengthen the signal.
In normal use the switch is left in the "Distant" postion, this allows all of the FM signal from the antenna into the FM Tuner. When the switch is moved to the "Local" position, the FM signal from the antenna is reduced by addign a resistor into the circuit.
I suppose that there many have been a time when local FM stations had strong signals and this was necessary, thsi does not seem to be a problem any longer.
The 2067 was the only model that NuTone made with this feature.
